Membership Officer & Road Captain Ed Fetters

I was born and raised in a small town (pop. 2500) outside of Kansas City MO.  After spending 4 years in the Air Force, I worked in the Defense industry in TX, OK, and MO until moving to Phoenix AZ to continue my career in electronics with Motorola.  Shortly after moving there, I bought my first cycle...  an 80cc Yamaha, and rode it back and forth to work (it wasn't as crowded then).  As time went on, I upgraded my rides with bigger and better ones; but always Brand H and Brand Y.  Then in '88, I transferred into the telecommunications world and took a job working outside the country installing cellular systems and IT equipment.

WOW...!!! The opportunity of a lifetime... getting paid to travel the world.  Since I would be out of the country so much, I sold my bike (then a 650cc Yamaha street model).

In '98 I took a job transfer to Tampa, where in '02 my boss said they wanted to move me to Chicago "to make better use of my talents and experience".  I thought of the cold, ice, snow, and driving in it to work in an 8 X 8 cubicle - said "NOT ME" and retired, getting back into my (then) most favorite thing to do...  Scuba Diving.

I finally realized in '04 that I had the time and money to do something I'd always dreamed of... owning and riding a Harley.  I bought an '04 Sportster 1200 and kept it 7 months, then decided I wanted something bigger and smoother riding for longer trips.  Now, a couple of bikes later, I have my '07 StreetGlide... And riding it with my newfound friends has become my most favorite thing to do.  I joined the Harley family and NPR HOG in '04, and have never experienced such camaraderie and fellowship from any other group I've been associated with.

Since then, my rear-end has maintained a steady level of pain and bruises... From kicking myself for not doing it sooner..!!

My other favorite things to do include:  Scuba, Geocaching, Shooting, and tinkering with my computer.

I feel I'm having a fantastic ride through life... AND IT AIN'T OVER YET...!!

Remember... When you're on a HARLEY - it's not the DESTINATION, it's the RIDE GETTING THERE..!!
