Treasurer Jim Dishman
Greetings! I was born in New Jersey in 1953, but moved to Florida in 1962 and have been in Pinellas County ever since.
I have been in Real Estate for over 18 years, 1st with Re/Max and then the Broker of my own agency, Selling-Florida.com Realty (4 years). I am a graduate of the St. Petersburg Junior College (A.S. degrees in Computer Technology and Criminal Justice), the University of South Florida (B.S. in Computer Technology w/minor in Industrial Engineering) and the University of Tampa (MBA in Finance & Marketing 1981). I have held Supervisory and Management positions with Florida Power Corporation, Nokia-Kinex, Information Management, Inc. and was a certified Police Officer in a part time position from 1977 thru 1998 reaching the rank of Captain of the Reserve Unit - NOW RETIRED). I taught firearms both at the St. Pete Police Range and then with the St. Petersburg Police Academy at the St. Pete Junior College. I was a competition shooter and Officer of the Florida Police Combat League and shot Police Combat shooting competitively reaching the Class - Master and co-hold a NRA Police Combat shooting National Record jointly with several other officers in the 15-yard 18-shot category.
I recently (Nov 2007) Married Rachel Miller and am in the process of adopting her four Children (Ethan-6, Gaila-8, Galatea-8 & Ambrosia-14 as well as a 10-month old Foster Child - Bobby). Currently I am riding a 2003 Ultra Classic with just over 13,000 miles (bought new) and a 2005 Screaming Eagle Fatboy (also bought new). My first bike was a 1967 Harley M-50 when I was 14 years old (wish I kept it). I paid $350 for it and I saw one at Fletcher's - beat to death, for $4500 last year). I stopped riding in the late 80's and did not start up again until I bought my Ultra Classic in 2003.
Both Rachel and I have been working for Ferman Harley as SET TEAM members for the last 3 years and do a lot of their special events, like taking the Christmas photos at all three dealers and doing the DEMO rides at all three dealers. That keeps us close to the Biker's, even when we do not have time to ride a lot ourselves.
I look forward to working as your Treasurer and hope that our organization will overcome all the prior obstacles and come together as a happy group of dedicated bikers to ride, have fun and make a difference in our community.
